Women's Hoops Rolls Past Brockport, 75-65

BROCKPORT, NY – Molly Benetti and Sarina McDowell each chipped in 16 points as the Nazareth women's basketball team knocked off Brockport 75-65 on Saturday to finish the weekend 1-1. The Golden Flyers are now 9-4 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Golden Eagles are 6-6 and 2-1, respectively.

How It Happened:

  • The first half was very even with the Golden Eagles leading 29-27 at the break.
  • Nazareth took the lead for good in the third quarter, as two free throws from Benetti at the 1:25 mark made it 49-47.
  • Nazareth's lead pushed to nine at 60-51 following a Benetti layup with just over seven minutes remaining.
  • The Golden Eagles were able to claw within 66-62 with 3:09 to play but the Golden Flyers responded with a 9-6 run to close out the game.

Game Notes:

  • The win for Nazareth was its first over Brockport with the Golden Eagles as members of the Empire 8. Nazareth lost both contests in the 2024-25 season, Brockport's first in the Empire 8.
  • Benetti was 5-for-13 for 16 points with seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
  • McDowell went 7-for-9 with eight rebounds.
  • Katie MacLachlan chipped in 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.
  • Kiara Anglin had a double-double with points, 13 rebounds, and four steals.
