Redlands Women's Basketball dominates Caltech in first home game of 2026

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's basketball team (10-1, 3-0) beat California Institute of Technology (Caltech) by 55, 105-55, Wednesday evening inside Currier Gym despite preseason All-American AJ Wick being unavailable for the game.

The Beavers took a two-point lead 21 seconds into the game before Andrea Perkins found Teagan McIlroy for a fastbreak layup and McIlroy assisted Leila Hosn for the lead, 5-3, which they held the remainder of the game.

Olivia McIntyre got to the line with 3:19 to play in the opening quarter which gave Redlands their first double figure lead, 17-6. Those two points for her were also the first two during a personal 10-0 run that made it 25-6 after 10 minutes.

On the fastbreak to begin the second, Monica Villanueva found Kayden Sanders for a jumper in the paint. Villanueva then scored the next four Bulldog points which gave them a 21-point lead, 31-10.

The Bulldogs' lead reached 30, 45-15, after another McIntyre field goal with 61 seconds remaining. Despite the lead, the Beavers kept fighting, scoring the final five points of the half.

Colbi Zorich woke up from a quite first half where she played 14 minutes and had four points by scoring six points in the span of 69 seconds to push the lead back into the 30s, 61-30.

Hosn and Alex Facelo each hit threes the rest of the third in route to a 77-33 lead after 30 minutes of play.

In the final quarter the bench continued their great play as all 28 points came from them. Villanueva had nine points on 2-for-4 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from the line.

Aliyah Anderson had six, Sanders five, McIntyre four, and Libby Oxciano and Taylor Whaley two.

McIlroy had 16 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. McIntyre had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in only 15 minutes.

Redlands hosts California Lutheran University (CLU) this Saturday at 2 p.m.
