On a cold and sunny Saturday afternoon, the SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats from the Empire 8 Conference visited the Bearcats in the ARC Arena to tip off the last basketball doubleheader before the Final Exam/Holiday Break.
Elissa Leung became the 17th player in Baruch women's basketball history to reach the 1,000th career point milestone after she hit two free throws with 0:39 left in the second quarter. She finished with eight points in the Bearcats' 69-37 home victory.
The two teams played a close first quarter, but the Bearcats came alive in the second quarter outscoring their visiting opponent from Utica, New York 15-5 to lead 32-18 at halftime en route to the victory.
Mia Castillo had a near triple-double with 26 points, 14 steals and six assists. Lola Idir started the first quarter with three 3-pointer and ended the game by tying a career-high with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Angela Bacarella had eight rebounds followed by Lillianna Morales with six rebounds.
Sanaa Lee from the SUNY Poly Wildcats had 17 rebounds.
