Coach Leland comes to Thomas from the University of Maine at Machias where he served as the head women's basketball coach for the past season, leading the Clippers to a 27-11 record and a trip to the Elite 8 of the USCAA National Championship. Coach Leland also coached the cross country team, and the men's basketball squad on an interim basis.
"We selected Dan from a competitive group of applicants and are fortunate to have a person with his experience and passion leading our women's basketball program," says Roussel about Coach Leland. "He's an excellent addition to our coaching staff."
Prior to his tenure at Machias, Coach Leland was the head girl's basketball coach at Fryeburg Academy and also coached at Sacopee Valley and Lake Region High Schools. He brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Thomas College women's basketball program.
"I am very excited for this new opportunity. I truly enjoyed my time as a student at Thomas College. There is a buzz on campus and in the community regarding the expansion and developments at the school," states Leland. "I look forward to getting started and becoming part of the Thomas College family. This is a tremendous time to be a Terrier."
A graduate of Saint Joseph's College, Leland graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Management and Marketing. He went on to attain his MBA degree from Thomas College. Currently, he is a full-time faculty member at Kaplan University and teaches Sales and Sales Management for Thomas College.
