Taylor Young had 19 points and Maggie Weiers had 12 points and 12 rebounds as No. 16-ranked St. Thomas scored a 78-59 home-court win over Hamline in Monday night's MIAC women's basketball at Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies (16-3 overall, 14-2 MIAC) have won five in a row. They shot 54 percent from the floor and recorded a 46-25 rebounding advantage and survived a 28-point scoring night by conference scoring leader Jordan Sammons.
UST's Katie Stone added 11 points, Kelly Brandenburg added nine points, six rebounds and five assists, and Elaine Warner had 10 points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.
UST closed the first half on a 5-0 run for a 35-31 halftime lead. They started the second half on an 11-3 run, and the Pipers never got closer than seven thereafter.
The Tommies play Wednesday at fourth-place Bethel.
