BUFFALO, NY—Every player in the Buffalo State (15-3/10-1) lineup scored and the Bengals cruised to an 86-49 victory over visiting Oswego (6-12/2-9) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) paced the Bengals' attack with 20 points and added seven rebounds. Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) netted 14 points, and Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) added 11. Kala Crawford (Middle Falls/Saratoga Springs) chipped in a career-best eight assists.
Buffalo State took control from the opening tip and raced out to a 50-27 lead at halftime. The Bengals emptied the bench midway through the second half and continued to pull away. The 37-point difference was the Bengals' largest margin of victory this season. The 86 points scored were the second-most this season, and the 49 points allowed marks Buffalo State's best defensive effort of the season.
Buffalo State shot 49-percent for the game, compared to 35-percent shooting by Oswego. The Bengals controlled the boards, outrebounding the Lakers 51-34, and outscored Oswego in the paint, 58-20.
Buffalo State will play at home again tomorrow when Cortland visits for a 2 p.m. contest.
