OSWEGO, NY—Five Bengals scored in double-figures for the second-consecutive day and Buffalo State (9-2/4-0) remained unbeaten in SUNYAC play with a 71-60 win over host Oswego (5-7/1-4) this afternoon.
Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) paced the balanced attack with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Maria Norris (Endicott/Union-Endicott) pitched in 14 points, and Kala Crawford (Middle Falls/Saratoga Springs) and Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) scored 12 points apiece. Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) chipped in 11 points and six rebounds.
Oswego led for most of the first half, but Buffalo State took a 30-29 advantage into halftime. The Bengals scored the first seven points of the second half to pull away briefly, but the Lakers came back and led by two with less than 10 minutes remaining. Buffalo State took the lead for good with a Norris 3-pointer with 8:25 remaining and pulled away for the win.
Buffalo State committed just six turnovers for the game, compared to 16 by Oswego. The Bengals shot 45-percent from the field, while Oswego shot 40-percent.
Buffalo State will next play at Geneseo on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
