#19 Mount Union Blows Past Drew, 65-33 in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Playing on the Atlantic coast of Florida, Drew (N.J.) may have thought they wondered into the Bermuda Triangle as the No. 19 ranked Mount Union women's basketball opened the game on a 19-0 run on its way to a 65-33 rout Tuesday night.

The Purple Raiders have won five-straight games to stand 10-1 overall on the season and finish the non-conference schedule undefeated.  In fact, Mount Union has now won 23-straight non-conference games dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Drew got eight points from Victoria Ault, has now lost three-straight and is 4-6 on the season.

Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) led Mount Union with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor

After the Raiders fast start they took a 36-12 lead into the lockers they ended any chance of a rally with a 9-0 surge over the first four minutes of the second half capped by a Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) layup to extend the lead to 45-12.

Mount Union now takes two weeks off for the holidays before hosting Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
