SUPERIOR (December 7, 2011) - UW-Superior led from the opening bell and never let up as they defeated UW-Stout, 80-58, Wednesday at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.
The Yellowjackets (4-3, 1-1) built as much as a 19 point first half lead and led 39-24 at halftime. The 'Jackets stretched that to as much as 29 points in the second half.
Superior shot 52.5 percent (32-61) for the game from the floor and hit 6-of-15 3-pointers. Stout (3-6, 0-2) shot 33.9 percent (21-62) from the floor.
Superior got 15 points from Connie Urmanski and Hailey Hart. HIllary Peterson tossed in 11 points.
The Blue Devils were led by 11 points each by Rachel Hanley (So, Minong) and Shelby Sterba (Fr, Tony), collegiate highs for both players.
Stout will host UW-Platteville, Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. and UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
