Bosques Nets Second NECC Player Of the Week Accolades

Nashua - For the second time this season, Daniel Webster College women's basketball standout Vanessa Bosques of Windham, Conn. has been named the "Player of the Week" by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).

Bosques, a junior shooting guard, averaged 18.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in helping the Eagles to a 3-0 mark over the past week and a half.

Bosques opened that stretch with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 53-46 victory over Simmons College on New Year's Day and followed two days later with 19 points, seven boards, two assists and two steals in a 63-55 victory over Gordon College as part of the third annual Key Largo Classic, played in Islamorada, Florida. Her efforts earned her all-tournament honors.

Bosques closed the week with 18 points including the 900th of her career, seven boards, five assists, and knocked down four three-pointers as part of a 95-77 victory at NECC foe Southern Vermont College on January 8th.

On the season, Bosques leads the Eagles with 16.8 ppg, and is adding 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and is shooting 41-percent from the floor. She currently stands sixth all-time in DWC career scoring with 909 points.

Under the guidance of first year Head Coach Kristin Kunzman, the Eagles are 8-2 overall, winners of seven straight, and are 1-0 in NECC play. The team returns to action on Tuesday when they host Southern Vermont in a NECC matchup tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
