Total effort takes Stout over Principia in Wartburg opener

Seventeen of 18 players scored as UW-Stout opened the Wartburg Holiday Tournament by blowing out Principia College, 85-49, Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (5-6) set a season-high with the 85 point effort and also matched a season-low allowed by an opponent with 49 points. Stout also held Northwestern College to 49 points in November. This was the second consecutive game Stout score 80-plus points.

Whitney Rawdon led Stout scorers with 12 points and had six rebounds, matching efforts off the boards by Amanda Dalaiden and Rachel Hanley.

Jill Tichy scored a career-high eight points, collecting all eight points in the first half as Stout took a 51-24 lead into the locker room.

Jessika Smith scored a career-high with four points and Brittany Scharmer  scored her first collegiate points.

Principia was led by Melanie MacWilliams with 10 points.
