DOVER, Del. - Wesley College used a 19-2 run to close the game to pull away for a 64-39 win over visiting Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference action.
A three by the Mustangs' (0-7, 0-3 CAC) Alissa Chambliss cut the Wolverines' (3-3, 2-1 CAC) to 45-37, but the Wesley defense held Stevenson to just 1-6 shooting and five turnovers over the final seven minutes.
Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) led the Wolverines with 18 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double in six games this year. Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) came up one point short of a double-double herself. The senior dished out 12 assists and scored nine points.
Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals in the game. Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) matched her totals in points and steals.
Wesley led by 11 twice in the first half before settling for a 36-27 advantage at the break.
The Wolverines committed just 11 turnovers on the evening, while forcing 23 Mustang miscues to fuel a 22-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
Jaquelia Conley was the only player in double figures for Stevenson with 14 points.
Wesley travels to Keystone on December 18.
