Wilborn Nets 28; Greensboro off to best Start in Program History

Greensboro, N.C. -- Nikki Wilborn scored 28 points as Greensboro College defeated Mary Baldwin, 87-42, on Saturday at Hanes Gym. The Pride improved to 6-0, (2-0 USA South) which is the best start in GC women's basketball history.

Wilborn--who was honored for surpassing 1,000 points in her career at halftime--was 10-17 from the field and converted 7-12 three-pointers. She also had nine rebounds, five assists, and seven steals in the game.

The Pride led 48-22 at halftime. GC forced 20 MC turnovers and had 12 miscues. Greensboro shot 45-percent (33-83) to 35-percent (13-49) for the visiting Fighting Squirrels.

Danielle Duncan scored 14 points for GC. The junior needs just five points on Sunday to reach 1000 for her Pride career.

Freshman Megan Whitcomb came off the bench to get 12 points. The freshman was 4-5 from the field and delighted the home crowd by not missing (3-3) from beyond the arc.

Wilborn passed the century mark on the road last season and this was her first home game of 2010-11. The senior guard now has 1158 total points.

Sabrina Desper led MBC (5-5, 0-2) with 15 points. Teammate Iesha Ricks added 14 for the visitors.

The Pride hosts Shenandoah on Sunday at 4 p.m.
