ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a wire-to-wire win for the Trine University men's basketball team as they jumped out quickly on Earlham College before going on to win 71-59 in their home-opener. The Thunder improved to 2-2 on the season.

The Thunder quickly built a 10-0 lead to start the game before the Quakers were finally able to put a point on the board at the 15:32 mark. Earlham battled back to pull within three at 13-10, but that would be as close as they would come as the Thunder pushed their lead 12 at the half, 37-25.

Trine extended their lead to 16 early in the second half as the Quakers were never able to get any closer than nine points.

Senior Tim Pearcy (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) led the Thunder with a career-high 27 points on a near perfect 12-of-13 shooting. Pearcy also grabbed six boards. Junior Scott Rogers (Waterford, Mich./Kettering) also had a solid night scoring 17 points, including going 9-of-11 from the free throw line and pulling down a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Braden Knight (Bedford, Ind./Bedford North Lawrence) also grabbed seven boards to go along with 11 points. Knight also had a game-high four steals. Sophomore Chris Kent (Angola, Ind./Angola) and freshman Dustin Hall (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) led the team with four assists each.

Earlham shots just a shade better from the floor, 45.8-to-45.5 percent, but the difference came at the charity stripe as the Thunder hit 19-of-26 compared to just 6-of-13 for the Quakers.

Trine will go right back to work as they complete the MIAA/HCAC Challenge as they host Manchester College tomorrow, November 27 at 4:00 p.m.
