Six weeks ago, New Jersey City was 3-6, 0-2 in the NJAC and was an afterthought. But the second semester has given the Gothic Knights second life as New Jersey City won its eighth in a row and its 12th game in the past 14, knocking off No. 22 Ramapo 81-69. The Gothic Knights improved to 15-8.
James Wang lit up his archrival for 33 points, 24 of them in the first half, as No. 2 Williams won the game and the top seed in the NESCAC tournament with a 74-70 win against No. 3 Amherst.
Amherst had won the previous meeting between the two, but Williams was playing without preseason All-American Troy Whittington. Whittington came up with a double-double on Saturday with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
UW-Stevens Point hit 11 of its first 13 shots from the floor and
basically never looked back, as the No. 8 Pointers ran past No. 10
UW-River Falls 86-70. Sophomore point guard Jerrel Harris led the
Pointers with 28 points and a game-high eight assists, while Tyler
Tillema, getting the start in place of the injured Dan Tillema, his
brother, scored 14.
It's the second consecutive loss for the Falcons, who fell to 19-4
and into a first-place tie with the Pointers (19-4, 12-2). Archived

No. 25 Wittenberg evened the score on rival Wooster, rallying from a 14-point deficit to claim a 76-72 North Coast Athletic Conference victory against the No. 4 Scots and sole possession of first place in the regular season title chase with two games remaining. Trailing by three at the half, No. 1 Whitworth opened the second half on a 39-12 run and rolled to an 89-66 win against George Fox before a packed house at home.
Hiram went on a 17-6 run early in the first half and a 13-2 run early in the second half to hand No. 13 Wabash a puzzling 70-58 home loss. Hiram is 12-11. Keene State got 15 from Ryan Martin and 14 from Derek D'Amours in beating No. 14 Western Connecticut 82-78, while Hampden-Sydney knocked off No. 6 Virginia Wesleyan 80-71 behind 22 from Harrison George. A buzzer-beating shot that hit and one that missed punctuated a dramatic 78-76 overtime win for the Wheaton (Ill.) men's basketball team over visiting No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan.
Stanley Greene's tip in as time expired lifted Thomas to a 138-136 overtime win against Lyndon State. Thomas trailed by 24 points with eight minutes left in regulation before ralliyng. Seven Hornets reached double figures, led by a game-high 44 from Phil Warrick.
Down by 19 early in the second half, Lycoming posted a valiant comeback, but Alvernia took a school-record 66 free throws and made 49 of them, just four shy of the NCAA Division III record of 53, to hold off the comeback, 89-82. Alvernia moved within a game of clinching the top spot in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs. Oswego State won its 12th consecutive game, clinching the top seed in the SUNYAC tournament with a 53-47 win against Potsdam State.
James Jones made Wilkes' day miserable again with 39 points and Jason Goldheimer hit three free throws with no time remaining to lift Delaware Valley past the Colonels 82-81. DeSales leads the MAC Freedom by two games with a three-way for second between DVC, Wilkes and Misericordia. Clark finished the game on a 17-4 run and rallied from a nine-point deficit with two minutes left to beat Springfield 78-76. Adam Van Klaveren pulled down 20 rebounds and scored 14 points as Cal Lutheran defeated Redlands 72-64.
