UW-Platteville will begin a national search for a new women's basketball coach immediately, Pioneer athletic director Mark Molesworth announced.

The school will not offer a new contract to coach Tina Kuhle. She was the Pioneers' head coach for six seasons, compiling a 65-88 record, including a 31-65 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mark. Counting her six years at Clarke, Kuhle has a 149-147 career record. The Pioneers were 12-13 this past season, 5-11 WIAC, and have not had a winning record in conference or overall since going 14-12, 8-8 in 2003-04.

"This was a a very difficult decision, because Tina Kuhle is a quality person," Molesworth said, "but when we evaluated the entire program and looked at many different aspects, we decided it was time to move in another direction. We sincerely thank Tina for her eight years (two as an assistant) at UW-Platteville and wish her luck in her future endeavors."

Kuhle will finish the remainder of the school year in her physical education teaching duties.
