Around the Nation

Washington University still controls its own destiny for the NCAA Tournament. Still could pull off the first Division III men's basketball three-peat in decades. Heck, after Guilford's loss Wednesday night, the Bears could well be the next No. 1 team.

But even at 18-2, the Bears' season hasn't exactly been smooth. Those two include a home loss to Brandeis, one in which the Bears turned the ball over 21 times and lost in overtime. Wash U makes the return trip to Brandeis this weekend, and Evans Clinchy catches up with the Bears and their opponent in this week's Around the Nation.

&&g-boxr&&Plus, who are those other unbeaten teams? Amherst is in the No. 1 spot, but there are two more unbeaten women's basketball teams and a third that has its only loss against a Division I team. That, plus a return to a previous ATN feature subject in Around the Nation.
