Brazil, China on teams' itineraries

Case is getting a crash course in Brazilian officiating, while Augustana is heading even further from home as the Vikings prepare for a 15-day trip to China.

A dozen players and 12 coaches are on the trip for Case, which is touring six cities in Brazil while playing four games and conducting various basketball clinics in the country.

Augustana's trip, which runs from Aug. 17-31, includes games against professional teams Dongguan, Hong Yaun and Beijing with college opponents being Hauzhong Science and Technical University and Qinghua University.

"We will tell our players that this is the ultimate road trip," said Augustana coach Grey Giovanine. "We have to overcome the language barrier, travel, different food and rules such as a 24 second shot clock, expanded trapezoid lane, longer three point shot and different kind of officiating."

Case has had to battle that as well. The Spartans took a lead into the fourth quarter of a game against Santos Furpes before seven players fouled out in the final quarter, during which Santos outscored Case 37-19 and won 117-110. Case finished the game with four players on the floor.

Albright is also en route to Spain, where it will play four games against Spanish club teams.
