Case Western Reserve women's coach resigns

Jacki Windon announced her resignation as women's coach at Case Western Reserve on Tuesday, July 24. Her resignation is effective July 31.

Windon, who was named the sixth head women's basketball coach in Case Western Reserve history on Aug. 26, 2004, posted a 33-41 overall record in three seasons guiding the Spartans.

“I am grateful of having had the opportunity to coach at Case,” said Windon. “It was a pleasure working with the staff and most of all the student-athletes. I am excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead.”

Freeman Blade, who was named the program's first full-time assistant coach last August, has been named interim head coach while Case Western Reserve begins a national search immediately to find Windon's replacement.

"While saddened to receive Coach Windon's letter of resignation, I remain very grateful for her contributions to our women's basketball program," athletic director Daves Diles stated.

Before coming to Case Western Reserve, Windon was previously the head coach at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio for two years. Hoban finished 15-7 (2003) and 16-8 (2004) under Windon's direction and was district runner-up in 2004, losing to the eventual state champion in overtime.
