Gromacki on the move again

G.P. Gromacki is in the transactions again, having taken the women's coaching job at Amherst.

For Gromacki, it's the third job in the past 12 months. After spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Temple, Gromacki accepted the head coaching job at Drew last June. He left Drew last October without coaching a game, two weeks before the start of practice, to take the interim head coaching job at Hamilton. The interim label was removed in April after a 20-8 season, an eight-game improvement over the previous seasons.

Amherst athletic director Suzanne Coffey is excited about Gromacki's track record as a coach. "He brings to Amherst a record of great accomplishments. I'm delighted to have him join the Amherst coaching staff, and am looking forward to seeing what he can do for our women's basketball program."

The Lord Jeffs went 12-13 this past season. Lynn Hersey, who was co-head coach, accepted the head coaching position at Smith. Amherst's other co-head coach, Billy McBride, was elevated to assistant athletic director.
