The Division III basketball season tips off today with games starting as early as 1 p.m. ET. That's when Geneseo State takes on Lake Erie at the University of Rochester's men's basketball tip-off tournament.

Some things on the site are new this season and some are unfamiliar. Please take note of the following items:

For the first time, D3hoops.com is tracking game times. However, you should definitely confirm the time of any game before you attend. Some schools put in times as local to the site of the game, some as local to the school's home time zone. Some are probably Eastern.

We are aware some schedules are incomplete and will continue to fill in the missing pieces.

Many schools did not bother to note whether their games were in-region. Some did not even bother to note them as conference games! We will attempt to fix those, but schools who are D3Scoreboard.com members should really look again at the schedules they submitted and fix them.

The Friday night schedules: men and women.

Big games include No. 16 Lincoln facing Widener at Franklin and Marshall and No. 9 St. Thomas playing No. 20 Occidental at La Verne in men's action. In women's action, No. 1 Scranton plays Montclair State at the University of Rochester, No. 9 Baldwin-Wallace plays UW-Eau Claire at Hope and No. 18 Howard Payne hosts No. 22 Trinity (Texas).
